Cliff Goodman

Owner and Founding Artist

Seattle Glassblowing Studio is celebrating 35 years of creativity, craftsmanship, and community. Founded in 1991 by glass artist Cliff Goodman, the studio brings artists and visitors together to explore and share the beauty of glass.

Cliff began his glass education in 1976 under Steven Drucker at the College of Idaho, then pursued graduate studies with Michael Taylor at Rochester Institute of Technology. At Penland School of Crafts, he studied with Fritz Dreisbach, a pioneering figure in the American Studio Glass Movement, along with Dudley Giberson, Jon Clark, and Andy Magdanz. He continued his training at Pilchuck Glass School with Joey Kirkpatrick and Flora Mace.

Originally from New York, Cliff moved to Seattle in 1984, drawn by the city’s emerging glass art movement and the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

Since its founding, Seattle Glassblowing Studio has become an integral part of the region’s glass art community. Hundreds of artists have developed their skills through its classes and glassblowing team, contributing to new generations of artists and craftspeople.

Today, visitors can experience the excitement of creating their own glass art in the studio’s working hot shop and explore a thoughtfully curated gallery of handcrafted art, gifts, and jewelry. With a strong focus on Pacific Northwest makers, the gallery features more than 100 independent artists alongside original pieces created by the studio’s own team.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to the vision that inspired our founding: making glass art accessible, supporting artists, and bringing people together through art.

Our Hot Shop

See artists in action in our hot shop, creating art glass in many forms. The Hot Shop is open to the public during regular gallery hours. Special events with guest artists happen throughout the year and we offer hands-on experiences for groups and individuals.
