Raya Friday is a proud member of the Lummi nation which is situated on the Lummi Peninsula overlooking Bellingham Bay and the Salish Sea in Washington State. She was born and raised in the metropolitan city of Seattle where her love for the arts was nurtured by her family and inspired by her community. Although she has had a 25 year long career in glassblowing, illustration was her first vehicle of creative expression and has been a constant source of joy. Her work seeks to celebrate her heritage and honor and respect the abundant knowledge of the natural world.
